Endings and Beginnings
I said goodbye yesterday…
To the place I called home for the last 6 months. Today is a day I start a new beginning. I seem to lean in that direction…of new beginnings.
I prefer sunrises over sunsets. Is that avoidance? Nah.
I look forward to possibility rather than dwelling on what was.
I just completed my 2nd go round as seasonal staff at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY.
Yesterday we said goodbye as the season ended. And what a season it was! I was busy mouse for sure ,but I’ve never loved a job so much in my life!
Full of transformation, not only for the thousands of participants who came through. The hundreds of faculty I got to serve, but for myself.
Ram Dass was a former board member of Omega and helped shape the seasonal staff program. He believed that Omega was built for the seasonal staff. To serve and lead with compassion. I wholeheartedly agree with this.
Dass said, “See the people that you are leading as souls. Not egos. That means for that to work they see themselves as souls. In other words, they see themselves as a spiritual being who has taken birth in a human body. Most people identify with their roles. It’s not role but soul.”
When I made the decision to live and work at Omega, it wasn’t about the money. It couldn’t be as most of us make minimum wage, but all of our basic needs are taken care of. Ive never felt more supported and loved than I have in my life. Im fulfilled in so many other ways.
I found that I don’t NEED anything.
My transformation is to remember who I truly am. The soul as we all are; and this we forget.
Spending my time at Omega helps me to forget and remember again. When I’m in a high energy bustling transition day supporting new faculty that come in to teach a workshop, to the time I take my walk around the lake.
To meeting and working with amazing teachers like Eckhart Tollé, Brian Weiss and Cheryl Strayed, to sitting with my coworkers, friends, brothers and sisters at family meal. It’s all a reminder that we get to be the love that we are.
My new beginning, starting to share my remembrance here on Substack. My wish is that it blesses many.
I look forward to meeting you and please don’t hesitate to reach out and connect.
